The last few weeks in your programme Marisa have been transformational for me. Things I knew intellectually I’m actually starting to *feel* and just yesterday I posted a response to someone that felt activating because it felt like I was making my *actual* self more visible. Of course the response has been positive!!
That is truly amazing to hear @Nicola Washington. There is such a difference between knowing something and embodying it so I am so pleased to hear this. I can’t wait for further transformations!
As I write this I've had the interesting experience of witnessing how my shadow gremlins react when I "feel the fear and do it anyway." Body image fears which I thought I dealt with years ago have flared up. I'm drinking too much alcohol. I'm playing Candy Crush for hours at a time. This is a reminder for me to be gentle. Really gentle. My busy brain and ego can stack up all kinds of glorious opportunities. And my body and spirit push back just in the way I described and say "let us take some time to metabolize this." Our culture tells us there is not enough time to do everything we need to do. That every day that ticks by is one less day to be seen, get famous, have influence. I am grateful that my body sets my limits and makes it clear "you will have the time you need to accomplish what you are meant to accomplish." I find this comforting.
When it comes to running or businesses, marketing, selling, and actually, anything, pacing ourselves is so important. It has to sit well with us. This stuff is scary, especially if we are in non dominant communities. Go steady and pace yourself.
As I move towards being way more self-expressed by creating a paywalled podcast of my Internal Family Systems inner work, the Radical IFS Podcast, my inner world has EXPLODED!
Every fear lurking in the waters of my consciousness has come roaring up like sea monsters!!
It’s been ultra-destabilizing, but I’m grateful the big vision is churning the waves so the burdens come “up to clear.”
Here’s to doing the inner work to feel the fear but do it anyway!
I'm so glad this landed for you Melissa. It really is so important to go at your pace and honour your feelings around how visibility makes you feel. As women in particular, we are conditioned to stay quiet, not make noise and certainly not shout from the rooftops! But when we are on a mission with our work this is exactly what we have to do, so it creates so much dissonance. Get the support you need and keep doing the work. Warm wishes, Marisa

This is exactly the validation I needed today!
